BMW Motorrad has launched the BS6 variants of its most affordable bikes in India, the G310R and G310GS at Rs.2.45 lakh and Rs.2.85 lakh respectively. (Ex-showroom) . Bookings of both the bikes have already opened for a booking amount of Rs.50,000. The German manufacturer has also provided a new low-cost EMI option for interested buyers. This may be the first time when prices of a vehicle have drastically reduced after a BS6 update. The original prices of the BS4 variant were much more expensive than the competition and led to low sales. With this bold step, both the BMW bikes have become more affordable than KTM 390 Duke and 390 Duke Adventure: their main rivals.

Coming with the BS6 update, are new colour schemes, LED lighting system and some more minor changes.  The BMW G 310R is available with three colour options: Blue and White, Black and White and Style Sport.  It also features different finishing on the engines, adjustable brake and clutch levers etc.

The BMW G 310GS gets news ‘Style Rally’ paint scheme option, featuring a black colour base with contrasting red and blue paint job.  BMW is also offering the G310GS in the special ’40 years GS paint scheme. It also gets adjustable brake and clutch levers for ergonomic purposes.

Basic equipments in both the bikes are quite same.  Both the bikes have the same suspension and braking setup as before.  Both the motorcycles also come equipped with golden USD forks at the front, and pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Braking equipments include a 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS systems.

Engine and Warranty

BMW’s both the bikes are available with a standard 3 years or unlimited kilometres warranty.  The first 500 customers of both the bikes can also get an extended warranty package for two years for just Rs. 5,499.

Both the bikes are powered by the BS6 compliant, 313cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 6-speed transmission.  The engine produces maximum power of 34PS@9500rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm@7500rpm.  New features like GTT (Glide through traffic), ride-by-wire tech, and slip and assist clutch make the bike an overall package.
