Mahindra XUV500 spied again! Find Details

The SUV segment has replaced the sedan segment status quo in India. The dominating looks and road presence of SUV give it an edge. People have become obsessed with SUVs and prefer to buy compact-SUV or micro-SUV in place of hatchbacks and sedans. The Mahindra XUV500 was a popular Indian offering which performed quite well till BS6. The company is looking to update the car soon and we have some details inside about the Mahindra XUV500 spied again in India.

Exterior design

The new Mahindra XUV500 will be more than a facelift of the car. The exteriors of the car will come will all modern offering that current-generation cars are famous for. The tough competition in the segment has made it compulsory for the company to provide something unique and attractive to the consumers. The new Mahindra XUV500 will come with exterior features like LED headlights, DRLs, new front grille and bumper, redesigned hood and overall structure.

The test car which was spied recently also had diamond-cut alloy wheels which will add styling to the SUV.  Sources also suggest that the upcoming XUV500 will be slightly longer than the previous-gen car.  Shark fin antenna, Sunroof, Roof rails, Rear wiper and defogger, chrome accents, and redesigned rear look are some of the expected changes in the SUV. Interior Features

The Mahindra XUV500 was already a sweet looking car from inside. The new SUV may get all-black interiors with premium materials and modern-day features. The new SUV may come with essential features like Steering mounted controls, Engine Start/Stop button, Touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, some form of connected car tech.  Premium seats, automatic climate control, cooled glovebox may be present too. Sources also suggest that SUV will come with flat-bottom steering wheel which will add a sporty look to the car and minimalistic interiors.

Engine and Performance

Mahindra showcased three new engines during the Auto expo 2020. The 2020-21 Mahindra XUV500 may come with Mahindra Scorpio’s  2.2L mHAWK Diesel engine.  The 2179cc engine in the Scorpio produces 140bhp@3750rpm and 320Nm@1500-2800rpm.  Both manual and automatic transmission will be provided with the SUV.  The engine is peppy, smooth and fun to drive. It has adequate power and torque for everyday needs.  Off-road performance can only be tested after the launch of the SUV. The new SUV will compete against Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks, and Kia Seltos.
