Why the delay?

Renault Kiger launch India

The new Renault Kiger has already been delayed quite a lot due to many different reasons. COVID also was one of the contributing factors.  The MD of Renault India was quoted as saying, “My product is ready; if not for disruptions in both demand and supply, we would have caught this festive season. I have been in touch with my vendor partners for the last 20 days and we are trying to sort out the issues. The recovery has been faster than expected and hence we expect the Triber and Kwid to help us in reviving our lost volumes.

More about Renault Kiger

Firstly the Renault Kiger is made to compete with Hyundai and Venue and likes and the dimensions of the spied-car confirm that. The Renault Kiger will definitely be a compact-SUV launched in the Indian market. As for the spied car video, only the rear profile of the car was made visible.

Talking about the rear of the car you notice the rear wipers. As a result this spied car may definitely be a top-spec variant of the Kiger.  You will also notice the roof rails easily on the top of the car. Strong lines can be seen underneath the cover on the new Renault Kiger.  If seen carefully, you will notice squared LED taillights and a minimalistic spoiler on the back of the car. The wheels of the car look around 14-15 inches. Being a top-spec model it also could have been alloy wheels but nothing can still be confirmed. More about Renault Kiger launch in India below.

The car is not very big and looks perfect for urban conditions. It also has a crossover/SUV look applied to it like the Renault Kwid Climber. Expect styling elements from both Kwid and Triber to make an appearance on the Kriger

Engine and Performance

According to sources, the Renault Kiger will come with two engine options: 1.0L three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine. Both engine options will come with a 5-speed manual transmission option with some form of automatic transmission as well.  Renault will also have to provide something unique and value for money to attract customers. New launches like the Kia Sonet and Toyota Urban Cruiser have raised the stakes high in the compact-SUV segment.
