Honda has been a famous car maker in India for a very long time. The Honda City has been one of the most famous and successful offerings from the manufacturer. Honda also recently launched the 5th Gen Honda City which was revolutionary and spectacular, to say the least. But the company decided to retain the 4th gen and continue selling it. Find out below what you get with Honda City 4th gen.

Variants and Looks

The Honda City comes in two variant options: SV and V. Both are petrol options. Further details about the engine and performance mentioned below.  The Honda City when launched was a pretty looking unique car. However, after many years the design looks a bit dated especially in front of the Honda City 5th gen.

According to Honda, the magnetic presence and striking looks of the car will continue to turn heads in the crowd. Premium Dual barrel headlamps with integrated LED DRL, R15 Diamond cut alloy wheels, Advanced Wrap around Rear combi lamp,  and shark fin antenna are some of the exterior features. According to modern-day standards, some of the above accessories do feel out-dated.

Interiors and Rear Seat

The Honda City became widely popular in the recent time due to its rear seat comfort and lavish interior. Interior features on the Honda City fourth generation include Rear AC vents, Driver seat height adjustment, Engine Start/Stop with Honda Smart Key, Automatic climate control with touch panel, Steering mounted controls, and advanced 3-ring 3D combi meter. According to Honda, the City is comfortable, ergonomically designed, ornately engineered space that takes your ride to a heightened level of classy.

The boot space of the sedan is also impressive and quite practical for every user of the car. A 510L illuminated cargo room promises you the ultimate boot-space present in any sedan.  For the chauffeur-driven passengers, the Honda City fourth generation comes with rear seat armrest with cup holders. For self-drive owners, front centre arm-rest with storage is also present.

A 17.7cm touchscreen audio video navigation system known as the Digipad 2.0 occupies the centre stage in the centre console. Both Android Auto and Apple Car Play are supported in the car.  You also get dynamic rear parking camera.

Engine and Performance

The Honda City 4th gen comes with a 1.5L i-VTEC Petrol engine which produces 119PS of maximum power and ARAI claimed mileage of 17.4kmpl. The engine has been doing its duties since a very long time and has remained quite trustworthy.  The trust-worthy efficient engine is also capable of producing 145Nm@4600rpm.  Only a 5-speed manual transmission is available with the car.

Safety and Conclusion

The Honda City 4th gen comes with safety features like ACE body structure, Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Multi-view rear parking camera, Rear camera sensor, ISOFIX, Engine immobilizer, High-speed alert and many more features.

To conclude, the Honda City 4th gen is a fairly good choice which is heavily overshadowed by its modern cousin. The Honda City 4th gen is a great choice if you do not mind the dated looks and manage to grab a heavy discount. Waiting period for the 4th gen Honda City is also less than the 5th gen City.

  • Sir, I am planning to replace my 15 year old Santro (driven 50,000 km) . My running is majorly in the Mumbai City with occassional trips to Mumbai-Pune highway (once or twice a year)

I am looking for a car which I could keep it for long term, should be fun to drive, easy to drive in city traffic, safe, value for money, good for family comfort (3-4 people – although majorly will be self driven )

I am only looking at Petrol Manual variants. (Maruti, Tata cars compact SUVs – I am not considering)

The cars which I have shortlisted is the new Hyundai i20 & Aura SX .

Is it advisable to strech my budget and consider the 4th generation City SV variant @10.8 lakh ?
