Top 5 launches till Diwali 2020

COVID already affected the automotive sector in India quite adversely in the past few months. Many new launches and reveals were delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. However, as the Unlock-4 starts in India, companies are adjusting to the new normal. Today we will be looking at Top 5 car launches till Diwali 2020 in India.

1) Kia Sonet

The sub-compact SUV segment is one of the hottest selling segments in the country. Every car manufacturer wants to provide a product in this specific segment. Though popular, the segment is highly competitive and was led by Hyundai Venue for a very long time. However, times are changing now and Kia’s Sonet is not far behind too.

Kia has already officially unveiled the Kia Sonet in India. Based on the first looks, it feels like a feature-loaded SUV. You get multiple engine and powertrain options to choose from. The newly launched iMT transmission is also available for purchase.

Segment first features like ventilated seats, air purifier, and 10.25-inch touchscreen make the Sonet stand apart from the competition. Price has still not been officially revealed but Kia will keep it highly competitive to defeat its rivals. 

Launch Date: Unveiled and Booking open from August 7 2020 for Rs. 25,000

Expected price: Rs. 7.00 lakh to Rs.12.00 lakh

Engine and Transmission: 1.5L CRDi Diesel engine, 1.0L Turbo-GDi and G1.2L Petrol engine.  Manual/iMT/AT(D)/DCT

2) Maruti Celerio

The Maruti Celerio is also a fairly popular car in the entry-level hatchback segment. It was the first car to introduce AGS and a new model is on its way. According to rumours and spy-shots, the new Maruti Celerio will be based on a completely new platform i.e. WagonR’s HEARTECT platform.

The new model is said to be very different from the ongoing model with new powertrain options available for purchase. The interiors will also be redesigned and provided with all the modern bells and whistles. 

Expected Launch Date: Early 2021

Expected Price: Rs.4.00 lakh to Rs.6.00 lakh

Engine and Transmission: 1.0L and 1.2L Petrol engine/CNG optional. Manual/AGS transmission

3) Toyota Urban Cruiser

One more competitor in the sub-compact SUV segment is on its way. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the rebadged version of Maruti Vitara Brezza with minor tweaks made to styling to stand apart. Just like the Glanza, the Urban Cruiser will be premiumly priced over Brezza and cater to youngsters according to Toyota. 

Engine and Powertrain options will remain the same. If Toyota manages to introduce Diesel engine, it will attract Maruti’s customers too as Maruti has ditched the Diesel engine from all their cars after BS6. The company has officially revealed the theme of the car and we also have some details regarding the unofficial brochure leak. 

Launch Date: Diwali 2020. Bookings open since August 2020 for Rs. 11,000

Expected Price: Rs.8.00 lakh to Rs.12.00 lakh

Engine and Transmission: 1.5L Brezza’s engine with Manual and Automatic

4) Hyundai i20

The creator of the premium hatchback segment has been doing quite well since a long time. The Elite i20 now in India feels quite dated and the company is set to launch a facelift pretty soon in India, maybe during Diwali.

If you are in the market for a premium hatchback, we would advise you to wait for the newer i20 to compare against its rivals. The car is definitely in the pipeline and the company may launch it in India soon. The new car will come with many changes and updates over the pre-existing model of the car and has been spotted testing multiple times.

Launch Date: Mid 2021

Expected Price: Rs.6.00 lakh to Rs.9.00 lakh

5) Mahindra Thar 2020

Mahindra unveiled the new Thar finally in India on August 15 2020. The price of the car will be launched on October 2nd and the car surely is a great deal. One of the most anticipated cars of 2020, Mahindra did not disappoint. The new Mahindra Thar is 2-3 generations ahead of the previous Thar in India.

The new Mahindra Thar comes in two variants AX and LX. AX is especially for the hardcore off-roaders while the LX variant is for luxury-loving urban drivers.
