Skoda Rapid TSI Automatic Confirmed

The Skoda Rapid TSi has now been confirmed to come in an Automatic Avatar. This has been confirmed by no other than the Skoda Auto India’s Brand Director, Zac Hollis. Read more to find out about the launch date and other details about the Skoda Rapid TSI Automatic.

Engine Changes?

The Skoda Rapid is the sedan in the Skoda lineup and a main sales grosser for the company. The company had to halt the bookings of the Skoda Rider Variant because of the high demand. Changing the engine might be a big risk and so the Skoda Rapid TSI Automatic will come with the same 1.0 litre TSI petrol engine. This engine will deliver a power of 110 bhp and 175 Nm of torque.

The gearbox on the Automatic will be a 6-speed Torque converter. It was rumoured to be a DSG but that won’t be an option to keep the price in check. Being a torque converter it will have a bit of slow shifts but that won’t be a hassle when compared to the comfort of city driving.

Other Updates

The Skoda Rapid TSI Automatic might come as a variant addon. It is expected to launch by September. All the other things on the car might remain the same. Top 5 things about Skoda Rapid Rider Plus. Will it come on other Variants?

For now the automatic is expected to arrive on the Ambition, Onyx and Monte Carlo variants. They will be 1.5 lakhs expensive than the current outgoing models. There is a rumour that Skoda is working on a car to replace the Rapid series. It was first expected to launch by 2021 but now the Covid-19 crisis might have upset the timeline.
