Nissan Kicks sales figures are very low in comparison to its rivals.  Hyundai Creta has sales numbers close to 11,000. Kia Seltos has sales figures close 8000 units and Nissan Kicks just sold 8,800 units. You can find out about Top 10 SUV sales here. Find out why people avoid Nissan Kicks.

1) Launch and Origins

The gap between the launch of the Nissan Terrano and Nissan Kicks was 6-years long. Public already had some doubts regarding the brand value and future.  Nissan did not manage to provide competitive price and features to outshine its rivals. Seltos on the other was quite successful on both the parameters thus shadowing Creta.

Nissan only shipped 4000 units in the year of 2019. Hyundai Creta sold more units in a single month.  People were not interested in the initial launch phase itself and Kicks did not manage to stand apart from the competition. It was highly overshadowed by Creta and Seltos

2) Diesel sales

Nissan Kicks dirt

OF the 4000 units sold in 2019, 70% were diesel engine SUVs. After BS6, Nissan ditched the Diesel engine and now the Kicks comes with only two petrol engine options. The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine is not the best in the market in terms of performance and efficiency. A new 1.3L Turbo Petrol engine option has also been launched which is better.

3) Refinement levels

The Nissan Kicks platform has been indirectly inspired by Logan’s platform of 2006-07. This is a very old platform for a 2019 car.  NVH levels and hardening of the clutch are obvious issues here.  There are more cons in this car compared to the pros. Diesel engine, which was a strong point until BS6 was snatched away. More about why people avoid Nissan Kicks below.

4) Resale

Hyundai Creta

Resale value was the biggest let-down for Nissan Kicks. Indians lost faith in the brand and avoided buying Nissan Cars for a very long time. If the car does not do well in the market, there is always an issue about parts and availability and maintenance. Nissan Kicks is not at all a bad product, but low sales figures pull down the car status very low.

5) Service Network

The service network of Nissan is not the best and there are no two ways about it. Kia a brand which came much later has proved itself much better in the service network department.  Nissan is unable to retain customer confidence due to its low sales and a host of other issues.

Conclusion

The Nissan Kicks is a decent product. But very low sales figure points toward its weaknesses.  Nissan Kicks is not the recommended choice in its segment. You get much more value for money cars with more features in the segment. Both Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are better options compared to the Nissan Kicks.

  • I own Kicks Petrol version bought in March 2019. I am facing some minor but serious issues. Auto Winshield on Driverside is being failed. I changed Beeding two times but problem still exists. Also pull lever for opening Petrol tank never function properly. Nissan service is unsatisfactory in these issues.

Lastly I never get mileage as promised even 75%.

  • Nissan Kicks is a strong offering from Nissan, but as people perceive after sales service to be a problem, the car is not selling well. Nissan has to revamp their dealer image

  • Then how magnite was success when you consider resale value

  • I have a 2018 Nissan Kicks SV. My current problem to date is the Warning Malfunction See Owners Manual message will come on while driving, or coming to a stop at a stop sign, or red light. 4 warning lights will come on. The car will stall, and sometimes turn off. I’ve replaced air filters, checked gas cap to no avail. What can I do to get this problem fixed. Has there been any recalls for this problem?
