Dubbed the Corolla Cross by Toyota, the new car is an SUV which carries forward the legacy of the Corolla brand. The car was officially launched in Thailand with an impressive price tag. Toyota Corolla series was first launched in Japan in 1966 and sold 47million units+ globally.  It quickly became Toyota’s best-selling car. The company kept up with the modern times and released various updates and facelifts, still the car remained a sedan.   But the performance in the Indian car market was far from praiseworthy. In a market dominated by SUVs, the Toyota Corolla never managed to sell decent numbers. The car was highly successful in the global market but India was above its reach.

Indians have become possessed with SUVs. The big, bold looks and decent performance have made them a crowd favourite. In the olden times, sedans were an indicator of prosperity but the scene has completely changed with the entry of SUVs. Highlights about Toyota Corolla Cross SUV

Toyota Corolla Cross in Thailand starts at 959,000 baht, the official currency of Thailand. If you convert it, it amounts to Rs.22.3 lakh INR.  However, this is the price of the base variant only and the top models may cost more.

The Toyota Corolla Cross is built on TNGA-C platform. This new platform is also known as the Toyota New Global Architecture C platform.  This platform promises better efficiency along with performance.

The Thailand-spec model comes with a 1.8-litre 2ZR-FBE petrol engine which produces a maximum power output of 140PS and a peak torque of 175Nm.  This new engine comes paired with a CVT gearbox.  There is also an optional hybrid version of the car available.  It comes with a 600V additional electric motor which produces an extra 72hp of power and 163Nm of torque.
