The Renault Duster, originally a product of Dacia in the UK was a fairly successful product until recently. While the international market got a host of updates and facelift, completely changing the looks of the car, the same cannot be said about the Indian counterpart.  We already included the Renault Duster in the top 10 cars to avoid after lockdown. Now, after Renault Duster Turbo Petrol has finally launched an update and find all details below.

No changes in exteriors

Duster

The exteriors of the car are again quite similar to its predecessor. The Duster’s styling is in no way boring and dull but feels dated after such a long time. Other competitors have increased their standards by releasing facelifts and updates but the same is not the case with Renault India. The major change in the new car is discussed below.

Change of engine

The current Renault Duster Turbo Petrol comes with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine. The new model comes with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is codenamed H13 and also features direct injection.  This new engine adds a new punch to the old Duster.  Both 6-speed manual gearbox and CVT transmission is available for purchase. The Nissan Kicks Turbo petrol which was also launched recently utilizes the same engine. Performance figures are compared below.

Engine 1.5-litre Petrol 1.3-litre turbo Petrol
Max. Power 105bhp 156hp
Max. Torque 142Nm 250Nm
Transmission Manual only Manual/CVT

Renault will continue selling the 1.5-litre engine in the lower-trim models with a manual transmission with budget buyers. The platform on the Kicks is the same as the Duster! Do watch the video below!

Some new bits and pieces

Renault has increased the price of the car and they surely now have to deliver to the customers. To make the new turbo Petrol variant more enticing, the Duster RXZ trim will come with a host of new features.  The feature list includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen system, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, hill start assist and many more. Whether these upgrades justify the price or not, only time will tell.
