Toyota has plans to launch the special edition of the Fortuner called the TRD. Today the Toyota Fortuner TRD has been launched in 2 variants. Here is all about the car and all that it gets on top of the regular Fortuner.

Price and Variants

Toyota Fortuner TRD

The Toyota Fortuner TRD comes in 2 options, the 4×2 diesel automatic and the 4×4 diesel automatic. The 4×2 variant has a price of Rs 34.98 whereas the 4×4 variant is priced at Rs 36.88 lakhs. They both are available in diesel automatic only. There is a downside to this as a manual on the 4×4 would have offered better control.

What’s new on this version than the last year?

To start with the biggest highlight is a heads up display. Along with that, the 360 camera make it a very technological car. There is also a dashcam for security purposes. The car gets a tyre pressure monitoring system but it seems like an afterthought.

There is wireless charging on the rear seat which might hint that this car is a chauffeur-driven vehicle. An air purifier seems like a good feature in the current situation.

TRD badging

If you buy a TRD Fortuner it is not subtle. The car gets badging at most of the places alongside the Toyota Fortuner logo. There is no change on the exterior and the car looks like the 2019 model. The Fortuner has already got an update that is pending in India. Know more about it here.

To remind u that it is a TRD there are puddle lamps. Also, the ‘Pearl White’ colour along with the black for the roof is special for this car. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels with a specific design. Also, the front bumper has a different shape and skidplate. Interiors of the Toyota Fortuner TRD have a black and maroon colour pattern which make it look sporty enough to bear the TRD logo.

Toyota Fortuner TRD Engine

The 2.8-litre engine of the car makes around 177 bhp of power. This is paired to 6-speed automatic gearbox. This the same as a regular Fortuner and there is not much of a weight addition on the Toyota Fortuner TRD. Comparing it to the regular Fortuner it is 2.45 lakhs more expensive and will be available only for 3 months now. We can agree to this be like a parting gift from this generation of Toyota Fortuner.
