Mahindra has decided to finally unveil the much-awaited Mahindra Thar. After many Spy Shots, the car will finally be revealed to the people thereby giving confirmation on many of the rumours that were raised! Here are 5 things that we expect on the much-awaited Mahindra Thar!

Automatic Transmission

One of the biggest expectation about the Mahindra Thar will be the new Automatic transmission. This will make the offroad focused looking Mahindra Thar more city-friendly. The Mahindra Thar Automatic won’t be an AMT thus providing true Automatic experience.

Also having Automatic transmission will make the car easier to drive in stop and go traffic. Driving a manual car with a heavy clutch in traffic is not only difficult but also takes out the fun in the commute. The heavy clutch is an assumption owing to the fact that is Mahindra Thar will have one for its offroad capabilities.

New Petrol Engine

The Mahindra Thar is expected to come with a BS6 petrol engine. This engine was shown at the Auto Expo and sits under the MStallion range. We expect the 1.5-litre of the 3 engines showcased to be seen on the new Thar.

Mahindra wants to keep this as a trend in their upcoming cars to use the petrol engine. Moreover with the BS6 norms in place developing and manufacturing a diesel engine not only puts the manufacturer to charge more but they also spend more.

Hard Top Roof

The recent Spy shots of the car clearly show that there will be a hardtop as well as soft-top variants of the car. The Mahindra Thar Hardtop makes more sense in a place like India. Also, the hardtop version of the car will be less prone to damage and ask for low maintenance.

As seen in the spy shots 3 cars have been spotted. Each of them seems like a different variant of the Mahindra Thar. Not to lose its heritage of being an open jeep the Thar will also have a soft-top version but that will be more like an accessory.

New Alloy Design

One more thing seen in the spy shots is the different alloy wheel design. Each one of them has a different style and this might lead to more customisation options. Also, the soft top version is seen with steel wheels which indicates that it might be the lowest variant.

Wider body

Comparing to the previous generation of the Thar this gen seems to be wider. This might be because of the wider body or interiors that have been made more spacious.
