According to our sources, the Toyota Fortuner facelift was caught testing undisguised in Indian roads for the first time this year. New reports suggest that Toyota may launch the Fortuner this September, during the festive season to sell more units of the highest selling car. Toyota Fortuner is quite a popular SUV in India and was in the 10th spot in terms of sales despite its hefty price tag.  The test mule was carrying an emission testing kit and this test is much more essential after the BS6 norms were introduced.  The FORTUNER lettering was covered but the Toyota badging is clearly visible.

The Global price of the Toyota Fortuner Facelift is Rs 31.44 Lakhs approximately. The topmost variant will be priced at Rs 35.90 lakhs. They also unveiled the Toyota Fortuner Legender for Rs 37 Lakhs approximately. The price for the Indian Toyota Fortuner will be slightly lower. Currently, the existing Toyota Fortuner has got a price update and now retails at Rs 30.24 lakhs. The global price of the Toyota Fortuner is for Thailand.

Engine and Performance

The 2.7-litre petrol engine from the previous generation may be carried forward in this car being a facelift.  This engine produces a maximum power output of 166PS and a peak torque of 245Nm.  Both a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission option will be on offer with the new car.

The Global variant comes with a 2.4-litre diesel engine which produces 150 BHP and a torque of 400 Nm. The other engine is offered on the Legender is the 2.8-litre diesel which makes a power of 208 BHP and a torque of 500 Nm.

The features offered on this Facelift are the bi-LED headlights. There is a new grill along with the bumper and side steps. The taillights also have been redesigned. The car is being offered with a 360-degree camera and a new Touch Screen system. This also has the Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The centre dash gets a wireless charging system and the AC vents have been also redesigned. The Fortuner Facelift also gets a hands free tailgate system which was missing for a very long time. The instrument cluster has undergone an upgrade and there have been minor design upgrades to the interior.

Legender and Safety

Toyota also launched a more premium version of Toyota Fortuner in Thailand for a price tag of Rs.37 lakh. This new model with the name Toyota Fortuner Legender may not come to India for sale. For Safety features Fortuner gets the Toyota Safety Sense. It also gets automatic braking and lane departure. This is guided with a radar cruise control and automatic steering wheel delay. It also gets lane-keeping assistance.

The car also comes with the complete Airbags setup and the electronic braking as seen on the previous cars. This Facelift of the Toyota Fortuner allows it to be one of the most updated cars in its segment. The launch was also accompanied by the launch of the Toyota Hilux pickup truck.
