The Kia Sonet was first showcased in Auto Expo 2020 in February in India. Kia may officially launch the production car on August 7 or mid-September in India. Kia is well aware of the competition and popularity of Hyundai Venue, so will bring quite something new to dominate. Here too, its aggressive looks will play an important role.

Kia Sonet spy shot above shows the rear tail lights which are LED with a connecting line. The rear looks a bit low with lighter colours at the lower end. The Tail lamps of the vehicle are completely LED with a stripe running across.

The bumper gets a number plate mounting. Also, the rear glass area is wide. There is an integrated brake light in the spoiler.  The wheels look a bit small and eat into the appearance of the car. Also, the wheels are steel wheels on this variant which means that this might be a lower variant. The alloy wheels might be slightly bigger in size.

Interiors

The interior spy shots show the AC vents which were expected in a car of this segment.

A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is provided. Additional features include UVO connectivity, flat-bottom steering wheel, wireless charging and ventilated seats. Kia may offer three engine options like the Hyundai Venue. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine may be available the same as the Hyundai Venue.  Kia will also include iMT transmission to stand out against the competition. Manual transmission, DCT and iMT will be on offer.  The Kia Sonet will rival against Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport. Aggressive pricing and features only will guarantee Kia success in this highly competitive market.
