2020 Honda City RS for India?

2020 Honda City is now all set in its fifth-gen clothes to launch in India. The price is expected to come next week. But in the international markets, there is a sporty version of the Honda City that has created a wave. Could this 2020 Honda City RS come to India? There a report which states that it might be considered for India but will a performance car in India attract sales?

As much attention this car will attract will it convert into sales? The Indian Audience looks at the Honda City as a mid-segment sedan. Honda has decided to bank on that mentality and keep the older gen city running along with the new one. This will divide the customers keeping them happy and Honda won’t lose customers.

So does the City RS cater to performance-oriented buyers? It surely does but the performance-oriented buyers in India are not that high. Although a lot of newly launched SUVs offer performance engine options, that is not the only goal of those cars. They offer the extra performance for a small sum along with the comfort features on the lower models.

How is Honda City RS Different?

The Honda City RS comes with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.  The power output is 122 bhp and all this power is delivered through a CVT gearbox. Also there are cosmetic chanegs to the car to ake it look sporty. A lack of chrome is seen and there is RS badging at places.

The 2020 Honda City is all set to come with 2 engine options. Having a turbo petrol engine might keep it in competition with the SUVs.  This is a good way to attract customers back from the SUV buying mentality. But does a Sedan have the advantages of the SUV?

The Sales of performance vehicles is low in India and Honda City RS will just add on to the variants list. At this moment Honda already has a lot of variants under the city name. The new-gen and the old gen running side by side is an innovative move.

Honda will decide if they want to bring in the RS variant depending on the sales of the new Honda City. There is also a chance that Honda launched a limited-edition of the RS version to keep the Hype and maximise sales.
