Is the Honda WR-V a Better Choice Now?

Price and Variants

2020 Honda WR-V gets a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets 2 variants – SV and VX. They get the option of BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. The price of the SV variant is Rs 8.49 lakhs. It got up to Rs 9.69 lakhs for the VX top variant.

Both these variants come with a Manual transmission. Missing out on an automatic gearbox is a big bummer for the Honda WR-V. At least an AMT gearbox should have been offered on the lower trim.

2020 Honda WR-V Competition

If we look at the competitors of the 2020 Honda WR-V in the price bracket of Rs 9.79 lakhs to Rs 10.99 lakhs. then we can see that the vehicle is not priced aggressively but it also does not offer any great out of the box features. The competition includes Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport, XUV 300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. There are more cars like the Nissan Magnite and Kia Sonet in this segment which are expected to create their stance in the market. Standing with these new entrants will be a task for the Honda WR-V

What’s New

The biggest change on the 2020 Honda WR-V is the new BS6 engine. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre engine making power of 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. The diesel variant of the car comes with a 1.5-litre engine making power of 100bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Both power and torque on the diesel engine make it a better pick over the petrol. A 5 speed manual for both petrol and diesel lets the car claim mileage of 16.6 km/l and 23.7 km/l respectively.

The design changes include a new chrome grille, LED projectors with new integrated daytime running lights. The bumper has also some changes with the New LED foglamps and position lamps. The new alloy wheels do make the car look new but it does not change the side profile much. The rear also gets LED taillamps which differentiate it from the previous model.

For the interior, there are a few changes like the new seat upholstery with Emboss and mesh design. Increased use of chrome is seen overall. This car gets the Digipad 2.0 touchscreen system but with the new City getting Alexa connected car feature this car could have got some basic connected car out of the box. There is, of course, Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It supports voice commands and Bluetooth navigation system.

Features

Features on this car are the same as the previous model. Electric Sunroof, automatic climate control, reverse parking camera, cruise control, keyless entry and steering mounted controls. Safety is not lacking as the car gets ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution. There is an electronic adjust for the mirrors and seat. All these features are seen only in the top variants. This car is offered in 6 colour options. Premium Amber Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Radiant Red Metallic and Platinum White Pearl. The Company offers 3 years of standard warranty with unlimited Kilometres. Customers can opt for increased 2 years of Warranty. The maintenance of this cost is low with a service interval of 1 year/ 10,000 km. Also, there is an Annual Maintenance Package which is offered at a cost of Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000 at the time of purchase for petrol ad diesel respectively.
