New generation Hyundai i20 spied testing in India

Hyundai, the global car manufacturer in India has produced quite a few good cars over the past years with i20 being one of them. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the new generation Hyundai i20 was set to launch at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. However, the crisis forced the show to cancel and the third-generation car was launched online. Highlights about the Spy Car

The test car was spotted in Delhi according to our sources under heavy camouflage.  The new generation Elite i20 looks quite similar to its European sibling.  Hyundai has updated the overall design of the car.  You can clearly see the redesigned headlamps and taillights on the spy car. Interior details were not visible but the car will come with all the modern bells and whistles. The dimensions look similar to its predecessor but shark fin and alloy wheels have been added. 

Hyundai i20 India Expected Engine

The Indian-spec 2020 Hyundai i20 will likely come with three engine options as stated below, all of which will be BS6 compliant.

• 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol
• 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol
• 1.5-litre diesel engine

The current generation Elite i20 has a maximum power output of 81.68bhp@6000rpm with 117Nm@4000rpm offered via a single petrol engine. Hyundai expects the car to perform better than its predecessor.

Hyundai i20 spied in India

Interiors will be made more comfortable and premium than its predecessor and competition to entice new customers.  The dashboard will be dominated by a no-nonsense touchscreen infotainment system without a lot of physical buttons.  Steering mounted control, updated AC vents and sound system can be expected.  The car will also come with the BlueLink app as a connectivity feature. The new car will support both Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Price and Competition

The 2020 Hyundai i20 may launch during the festive season in 2020. Hyundai may price the car between Rs.5.5 lakh to Rs.9.0 lakh. The car will be competing against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. The current generation Hyundai Elite i20 costs Rs.6.49 lakh to Rs.8.3 lakh.
