The VW Group project 2.0 is a major overhaul to Indian operations. Skoda is at the centre of it. Under this, there will be 2 subcompact SUVs. These will enter the space in which currently the Hyundai Creta rules. Further, they will also introduce 2 subcompact sedans. These will be to rival the Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The India 2.0 project will be around the MQB A0 platform which has been tweaked for India and called the MQB A0 IN. The engines will be from the TSI family.

A petrol CNG engine is also expected to feature on these cars.

What is expected?

VW group will make an investment of Rs 8,000 crore for the India 2.0 project. Skoda is at the lead of the project. They have released a teaser of the Skoda Rapid.

The B-Segment SUVs will be based on the Skoda Vision IN and VW Taigun.

Both these cars were shown at the Auto Expo 2020. Both these cars are expected in 2021. Skoda and Volkswagen will sell the Rapid and Vento in the B-segment sedans along with the new premium sedans.
