MG has been selling its cars quite aggressively in the Indian market for quite some time now. Both MG Hector and MG ZS EV have been received quite well by the Indian customers. MG has realized its future scope in India faster and has begun producing 3-row MG Hector also known as MG Hector Plus. The car was first showcased globally in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2020.

Will it affect MG Hector?

The MG Hector Plus is essentially a different version of Hector with three rows of seating.  It gets new headlamps and taillamps to differ from its sibling but shares the platform, engine and many other body panels with the MG Hector. When asked if the MG Hectors potential customers might ditch the car for this new upcoming model, Mr Rajeev Chaba said that he did not want his customers compromising on space and the 7-seater was made for the family man while the Hector is a different segment altogether.

The MG Hector Plus will be priced similar to the MG Hector and will rival the Mahindra XUV500 and upcoming Tata Gravitas.  Though Innova Crysta is much more premium priced, MG says that the 7-seater  will be a low-cost effective alternative. A seven-seat version of the Hyundai Creta is also expected to enter the segment at the end of 2021.
