The Auto Expo held earlier was expected to host the new Thar but the car was not showcased by Mahindra there. However, the new generation Thar has been spotted road testing and will soon launch in the Indian market by the end of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021. The test mule was spotted in Tamil Nadu along with Mahindra atom Quadricycle. Both the cars seem to be production-ready and in their final phases. The 2020 Mahindra Atom Quadricycle though has already been showcased in the Auto Expo 2020.

Exteriors

The rear look reveals square-shaped taillights in the 2020 Mahindra Thar(next-gen) in India.  You can see bumper-mounted reflectors on either side, spare alloy wheel and high mounted stop lamp on the test vehicle. On the front of the 2020 Mahindra Thar, you can also observe that the front of the car includes larger grille, round headlamps, black sporty wheel arches and vertical slats. The new 2020 Thar looks more rugged than its predecessor with a modern touch added to it.

What all is new?

The new Mahindra Thar is built on a brand new platform and will receive significant changes overall. A retro-modern look has been targeted by the company as a standout- feature.

The current generation Mahindra Thar costs Rs.9.59 to Rs.9.99 Lakh.

New Engine and Performance

The 2020 Mahindra Thar will come with both diesel and petrol engines. Both manual and automatic transmissions may be provided to the consumers. Interiors

The interior cabin will be provided with all the modern features and amenities along with a retro touch to it. Steering mounted controls, circular AC vents, cup holders, a new dashboard with beige leather upholstery is expected. Dual-tone interior colours may also make an appearance in the 2020 Mahindra Thar(next-gen) in India.
