The Younger Renault Triber or Older Kwid?

Spyshots of the upcoming HBC also now known as Renault Kriger have been popping up on the internet for quite some time. However, due to lockdown, the timeline of its launch was delayed. But as the Un-Lock phase begins in the country, Renault is trying it’s best to get this timeline of the launch of the new car as soon as possible. Recently, the upcoming Compact SUV was spotted testing on the busy roads of Chennai with heavy camouflage on the car.

Expected Kriger Price

The Renault Kriger has been made to directly compete with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki  Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and even Tata Nexon. The official price of Renault Kriger has not yet been released. However, the table below shows you the price of its rivals in the segment. Renault will obviously price their new car aggressively if it wants to win against the competition.

The design of the car is the only thing that can be predicted with a slight accuracy. Expect design elements of Renault Triber to make an appearance too in the production version of the Renault Kriger

The spy shots reveal SUV like styling as the Kwid. Expect the car to have good ground clearance. The rear of the car looks stylish and sporty with spoiler lips, roof rails, and shark fin antenna bulging through the camo. 16-inch wheels are made to be available in this car. The front of the car has a big and muscular bumper with LED DRLs. The Kriger might look like a bigger Kwid.

Platform

The car is made on the Triber’s platform which is Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A+ modular platform which is perfect for the Indian market and provides a lot of cabin space. The new car will also be as roomy as the Renault Triber.

Renault Kriger Launch

The upcoming Renault Kriger was expected to be revealed by this time. The launch had no date on it but it if the car was revealed by this month then the launch would have been right before diwali and the festive season.

Due to lockdown, production testing might be pushed further and hence everything else is dependant on it too. But as relaxations start coming in, Renault is trying its best to get the car ready by the end of 2020 or in the first quarter of 2021. Road tests suggest that the Renault Kriger is a priority for the company.

Expected Engine

After the BS6 emission norms have been passed, many manufacturers have ditched the diesel engine and Renault is no different. The upcoming Kriger might only be available with a turbocharged petrol engine. The Renault Triber currently has a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine which produces max power of 72bhp@6250rpm and a peak torque of 96Nm@3500rpm. A 5-speed manual and a 5 speed automatic is rumoured to be offered by Renault for the Kriger.

Renault Kriger Features

No interior details have been revealed by the sources. A touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play will surely be provided with the car. The company is expected to take styling cues from the Kwid and Triber itself.
