Should Hero Splendor Plus actually get these Graphics?

Hero Motorcorp recently held an online competition in association with Dare2Compete. The competition was to make completely new graphics for the Hero Splendor Plus. The competition witnessed more than 10,000 registrations. The results for the competition were based on voting as well as the jury’s decision. This competition gives us some of the coolest looking splendours that could be made with just a cosmetic update. So should Hero actually consider this in future updates?

First Place

The 1st place for the Splendour Plus design challenge has been taken by Reshma KD (Bengaluru). The design by Reshma had a quite modern and futuristic theme. It had very fewer or very negligible curves compared to the current Splendor Plus graphics. The design might remind you of some kind of futuristic screen (shown in Ironman movie).  This show how even a very small change in the design can lift the mood of the bike. With this design, Hero could target younger buyers who are on a budget.

First Runner Up

The first runner up design was made by Ajay Vishnu (Kozhikode). His design was inline with design language as of the BS4 Hero Splendour Plus.

With the golden colour theme, it somehow reminds of the special edition of the 25th anniversary. These Splendor Plus graphics give it bling and can compensate for the chrome demand in the market.

Second Runner Up

The second runner up design was made by Pankaj Jadhav (Mumbai). His design is very much in line with the current BS6 variant of Splendor Plus. It had a “Heritage” word written on the tank with Indian flag. Also, the lower side of the tank has the replica of the Himalayas.

Hero MotorCorp has not yet told that if they will use these designs for the next upgrade. But we would like Hero to take some inspiration from these designs.

A special edition of these designs which would also be a good marketing strategy. What’s your thoughts on these Hero Splendor Plus graphics, should it be there on the next Hero Splendor Plus?

Specifications

Hero has recently updated the Splendor Plus to comply with BS6 norms. The bike now comes with fuel injection. The engine now produces about 7.9 bhp max power and 8.05 Nm max torque. The bike is supposed to have better fuel economy as well as throttle response due to the fuel injection. Other than the engine, Hero Splendor Plus BS6 also has updated graphics and colour options. It now comes in four different colour schemes.

Mechanically, the BS6 Hero Splendor Plus remains identical to the BS4 model. It retains the front telescopic suspension, rear hydraulic spring suspension, alloy wheels and brakes from the BS4 model. The bike now starts at Rs 60,350 (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 63,860 (ex-showroom). It competes against Bajaj Platina and TVS Radeon.
