The Renault Captur facelift has been revealed in its Russian spec. There will be many similarities seen on the Indian spec model as well as both countries are emerging markets for Renault. The car gets changes on the outside but the majority is on the inside. Find out more details about the model below and also the expectations for the Indian spec model.

Design and Platform

The Renault Captur facelift will get additional chrome on the front. It also gets an updated front grille. It is underpinned by the new BO+ platform in Russia, but the Indian car is not expected to get this new platform to keep costs low. Other Renault products such as the Duster are based on the BO platform and this car will also be based on that. It also gets new alloy wheels although size will be the same 17-inch as before. It gets new paint options which include a bright blue shade with a silver roof.

On the inside, the company says that it has used better quality materials for a richer and more premium feel. The dashboard layout has changed slightly and the car now gets additional buttons below the dashboard. It gets a bigger 8.0-inch touchscreen as well which has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car gets additional features such as remote engine start function, Bose audio system, heated steering wheel and rear seats, adjustable mood lighting, 360-degree camera support for enhanced safety and a blind-spot monitoring function. But some of these might not make it in the Indian spec model.

Engine

The biggest addition is the 1.3-litre petrol turbo model that will be seen on the Renault Duster. This engine produces 153 bhp. This is also mated to a CVT gearbox. It has not been confirmed if the Turbo model will make it to the Indian market. Currently, it is offered with 1.5-litre petrol that produces 105bhp and 142Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 109 bhp and 240 nm of torque. The petrol is mated to a five-speed manual while the diesel is mated to a six-speed manual.

The Captur is currently priced from Rs 9.49 lakhs to 13.08 lakhs (ex-showroom). The optional 1.3-litre turbo, if it comes to India, will be priced considerably higher than the 1.5-litre petrol. The car competes against the like of the Nissan Kicks and the Kia Seltos. As of now, there is no official pricing from the company.
