Engine

Bajaj Pulsar NS160

Speed enthusiasts are always tended to buy the most powerful bike in the segment. Well, it’s the Pulsar NS160 which is currently the powerful bike in the segment. It comes with a 160.3 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The engine produces about 16.8 bhp max power and 14.6 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox.

However, on the other hand, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is not a weak player either. It’s the second most powerful bike in the segment producing about 15.6 bhp max power and 14.12 Nm of peak torque from its 160 cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The engine comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox.

Hardware

As said earlier, the competition is very neck to neck. So both the bikes have an almost similar level of hardware equipment. Both of them do come with telescopic suspension at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. The braking on Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is done with the help of 260 mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear. While the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V comes with 270 mm disc a 200 mm disc at the rear. Both the bikes have single-channel ABS which means the ABS is only functional on the front brakes.

Tyre size is slightly better on the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V than Bajaj Pulsar NS160. The Apache RTR 160 4V gets 90/90-section front tyre while the rear is a 130/70-section tyre. Whereas, the Pulsar NS160 comes with a 90/90-section front tyre and 120/80-section rear tyre.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has a clear win in terms of features as it is equipped with quite modern techs. The instrument cluster on the Apache RTR 160 4V is a fully digital unit with lap timer, top speed recorder, 0-60 timer, etc. It also features all-LED headlamps, LED DRL’s and LED taillamps.

On the other hand, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 features semi-digital instrument cluster with twin trip meter, fuel-level indicator and other basic info. It misses out on LED headlamps and DRLs, however, it does have LED taillamps and pilot lamps. The interesting bit of the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 is that it comes with a split seat which is missing on the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

Price

The price of the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 starts at Rs 1,05,951 (ex-showroom). While the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V starts at Rs 1,03,083 (ex-showroom). Both these bikes do justify the pricing.
