BMW Motorrad has unveiled the prices and features of the new F900R and F900XR for India. The pricing of the F900R and F900XR begins at Rs 9.90 lakhs and Rs 10.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). The F900R is a naked streetfighter whereas the F900XR is an adventure tourer. Let’s check out the features and specifications of these two German-made CBU motorcycles.

BMW F900R

Engine

Both the bike shares the same engine, it’s an 895 cc inline two-cylinder unit. The engine produces about 105 bhp max power and 92 Nm of peak torque. Compared to its rivals, the engine is not the most powerful among but we can surely expect the BMW refinement. Along with the engine, both these bikes do share the same chassis as well.

The swingarm and the mainframe are common in both of them.

BMW F900XR

Features

As they are from BMW, therefore they are feature-packed motorcycles as well. Both of them do get the LED headlamp units with cornering function, bi-directional quick shifters, ride by wire, electronically adjustable rear shock absorber, adjustable clutch and brake lever, 12V charging socket. And that’s not the end of the features, it comes with TFT display instrument cluster in which you can choose the riding modes such as Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. Also, the Bluetooth smart connectivity enables you to know the statistics of the ride.

As the above features were interesting, the one thing that might lose your interest is that most of them are not standard. Rather, the Standard variant comes with a basic ABS and traction control, LED lighting, two riding modes and two riding modes. Although it does not have a harsh impact on the overall performance of the bike but you can surely save some bucks.

Differences

Of course, both these bikes have very different ergonomics as well as their cycle parts are different. The suspension travel of the BMW F900XR is at 170mm and 172 mm for front and rear respectively. Whereas the BMW F900R has the travel at 135 mm and 142 mm for the front and rear respectively. One thing you will love about the BMW F900XR is its seat height options that vary from 790 mm to 870 mm. In similar ways, the BMW F900R has the seat height ranging from 770 mm to 865 mm. It seems that BMW has really taken the comfort factor into the account.

The BMW F900XR also features windscreen which is also adjustable one.

It also features preparation for GPS device, pannier fastening, Heated grips. Nevertheless, both the bikes are CKD products, so you will get the same features and specifications as of the international spec. The BMW F900R will be competing against KTM 790 Duke, Suzuki GSX-S750. While the BMW F900XR will be competing against Honda Africa Twins and Triumph Tiger 800 XCx.
