The retro-modern motorcycles are pretty much appreciated in India. Many of the Yamaha fanboys were expecting the RX100 to get relaunched with modern tweaks but we guess it’s still far away. However, there is a motorcycle which can effectively replace the charming RX 100. Yes, we are talking about the Yamaha XSR155. But the real question is when will it launch in India? So let’s dive into the blog and you will surely get the answer you needed.Yamaha XSR155

Yamaha India currently has sub 250 cc sports bikes and commuter scooter. So it’s not really a wide portfolio for India. On the other hand, other manufacturers in India are entering into very unusual segments. So Yamaha in the coming days will try to expand its portfolio by offering something interesting. The Yamaha XSR155 will be the perfect choice to be in the portfolio

Specifications

The Yamaha XSR155 is based on the MT-15 which is available in India. The bike uses the same engine and multiple hardware bits as of the MT-15. The engine on Yamaha MT-15 is a 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected unit. It produces about 17.9 bhp max power and 13.9 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The engine has VVA(Variable Valve Actuation) similar to Honda’s Vtec. So the engine is pretty modern and powerful in the segment.

The Yamaha XSR155 should share the same braking and suspension as of the MT-15. For reference, the braking on the MT-15 is done with the 282 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. The international spec XSR155 comes with USD forks at the front which seems suspicious for India bound bike. In India, it should be getting conventional telescopic suspension at front and mono-shock suspension at the rear.

Features

The Thai spec XSR155 comes with round styled digital instrument cluster, we can hope for the same in India as well. It comes with LED headlamps, LED taillamps and will surely have side stand engine inhibitor as well. Nonetheless, the bike is expected to replace some of the premium elements with more affordable elements to lower down the cost in India. The styling of the bike is quite retro and classic which is not exactly like the RX100 but it will surely have the feel classic feel of RX series up to some extent. The bike has the retro-looking round headlamps, old-styled seat cover and plenty of the retro bits.

Price

There’s no chance that Yamaha might not think of this bike for India. However, the manufacturer has still not given the word. We are expecting this bike to get launched by 2021. The price of India bound Yamaha XSR155 should be between the MT-15 and R15 which is somewhere between Rs 1.39-1.46 lakhs (ex-showroom). The possible rivals we could think of include Jawa Forty Two and Husqvarna 250 twins.
