The Renault Kwid EV had been earlier showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The car got a new design as well as some changes in the interiors as well. There have been new details about the pricing of the car. The Electric market has grown in India in recent times. Recent cars such as the Tata Nexon EV have gotten success in our market. The Kwid is an already successful car in our market.

It is an entry-level car that has a good road presence. Renault is trying hard to make the Kwid as the first electric car in our market. The car is already on sale in China. The India version is also expected to be similar to this version. Find out more details below.

Renault Kwid EV Powertrain

The Renault Kwid EV will come with a 26kWh battery pack that will have 45 bhp electric motor. This will also give the car a range of over 260 km. This is an impressive range for an entry-level electric hatchback. It requires 50 minutes to charge from 0-80% from the DC fast charger.

Changes

Certain features on the Renault Kwid will be different when it is launched here. From the outside, it will look like the current car itself.

Although it will get a raised ground clearance to tackle the Indian roads. What is likely to be altered on the India version is ground clearance. Higher ride height will minimise the chance of damage to the battery pack positioned in the belly of the car. In look and features, the Kwid EV will not be too different to the standard petrol-powered Kwid. It will be based on the company’s CMFA platform.

Renault Kwid EV pricing

To keep the pricing of the car lower, Renault plans to localise as many parts of the product as it can. Around 75% of the car is said to be localised. The prices are expected to start at around Rs 7 lakh, which could make it one of the most affordable EVs in the country. If successful, Renault plans to bring the localisation percentage even higher. It will compete with the likes of the Tigor EV. The company had earlier said that it is indeed focussing on the Chinese market, with India also on its priority. The car was earlier said to be launched by the year 2022 in our markets. But the launch could be delayed due to the ongoing crisis.
