The 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale has been spied. The new Panigale is a improvement over the existing 899 and hence is now called 959. It has a longer stroke which makes the new version even more fun.

The 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale, from the pics, looks very similar to the 899 with minimal changes. A noticable upgrade is the new anodized fork in gold shade.

The 899 has a 100mm bore and a 57.2mm stroke, which are not the standardized measurements used throughout the various Ducati engine families. The Panigale is known to have reworked engines. Ducati’s Engine Development Department felt the need for a larger displacement powerplant that supposedly would help the entry-level Panigale keep pace with the flagship 1299 Panigale.

Apart from the spy photos of a  2016 Ducati 959 Panigale, nothing else is yet officially known about the bike. It is expected that the 959 Panigale will come with 150bhp of peak horsepower, which is not much as compared to the 899 which delivers 148bhp. However, the 959 Panigale is expected to better its existing version in torque and seamless power delivery, which will make the 959 much more enjoyable whether on road or on the track.

Ducati will look at introducing the 959 Panigale in India towards the end of 2016 or early 2017.
