Maruti Suzuki is the most popular company in the country. It has been putting out volume sellers in the market for a long time now. The company specialises in cars below Rs 10 lakhs. Today, we look at the two premium offerings by Maruti in different segments.

In the sedan segment, it offers the Ciaz and in the SUV segment, it has the Maruti Brezza. Both cars have also been best sellers in their segments. We compare both cars below in all their aspects

Engine and transmission

Maruti Brezza

Both cars get the same engine option on them. The engine of the Ciaz is 1.5-litre petrol that produces 103 bhp and 138 nm of torque. Both cars also come with a four-speed torque converter automatic is optional. But, the Ciaz is close to 100 kgs lighter than the Brezza. This makes it more nimble and agile. Also, the fuel efficiency of the Ciaz is higher since it gets the mild-hybrid technology from the company.

The Ciaz gives a fuel efficiency of 20.3 km/l while the Brezza gives 18.7 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

The Ciaz gets a much larger 510 litres of boot space as compared to the Brezza’s 328 litres. But the ground clearance of the Brezza will be superior. It gets 200 mm of ground clearance while the Ciaz only gets 170 mm of ground clearance. This will make a difference when you are going through rough roads. The overall cabin space of the Ciaz is also superior to that of the Brezza and it is more comfortable for long journeys. The Brezza also gets chunkier tyres than the Ciaz. But the Ciaz gets a softer suspension as well.

Features

Both cars get common features such as dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors, seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, driver seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, rear defogger and high-speed alert, projector headlamps, double-din audio system with BlueTooth phone integration, steering-mounted controls and four-speakers, central locking, front and rear electric windows, tilt-adjustable power steering, air conditioning, electrically-adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) and rear armrest. The Ciaz gets certain features such as rear AC vents, leather upholstery, rear sunshade, automatic levelling headlamps, auto-dimming IRVM that are not seen on the Brezza. But the Brezza also gets features like rain-sensing wipers and a dual-tone paint option that are not seen on the Ciaz.

Verdict

Therefore, both cars are meant for different purposes. If you want a car that is compact, gets a good view of the road ahead and can also take on light off-roading, then the Brezza is your pick. If you want a car that is the best for highway usage and also provides maximum comfort for rear passengers, then the Ciaz is your pick.
