Engine and transmission

The Celerio will be offered with the same 1.0-litre engine that is currently seen. This produces 67 bhp and 90 nm of torque and is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. Maruti is developing a new 800cc engine. There is a small chance that this new engine comes as the base variant on the Maruti Celerio. The only purpose would be to make the pricing more attractive. This engine will not get the AMT option.

Pricing and competition

The car was known to be as one of the cheapest automatics on offer in our country. Maruti will also offer this car at a competitive price point and the prices are not expected to change by much. The current Celerio is priced at Rs 4.46 lakh – 5.63 lakh(ex-showroom) . The car will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Renault Kwid.
