Maruti Ciaz vs Hyundai Verna – Better one?

Maruti and Hyundai are both companies that are leading the sales chart in the Indian market. They have realised what the Indian market needs and has given them the same through their products. Both companies have extensive dealership and service networks throughout the country. Now both companies offer premium sedans in their lineup that rival the Honda City. The Ciaz is from Maruti while the Verna is from Hyundai. Both cars have the latest features and design and with the BS6 updates we find out which car comes out on top.

Engines and transmission

The Verna gets the turbo petrol engine from the company that is also seen on the Venue. This engine is known for giving good fuel economy while also offering higher performance. The engine produces 118 bhp and 172 nm of torque. The engine of the Ciaz is 1.5-litre petrol that produces 103 bhp and 138 nm of torque.

The Verna also has the option of a DCT gearbox which will be quicker and more intuitive than that of the Maruti Ciaz. The Verna also gets the option of diesel while the Ciaz does not.

Specifications

The Verna gets a boot space capacity of 465 litres and the Ciaz gets 510 litres. Both cars get rear ac vents. The Verna gets a ground clearance of 165 mm while the Ciaz gets 170 mm of ground clearance. The overall cabin space of the Ciaz is superior to that of the Verna

Design and interiors

The Verna has recently gotten a facelift and it can be seen that it is the more modern car. The car gets redesigned bumpers and lights as well. The front grille has also become bigger in size and the alloys have changed. The Ciaz also gets a modern design with LED DRLs as well but the Verna looks the new of the two.

On the inside as well, the Verna gets completely new interiors with soft-touch materials and it also gets a completely digital instrument cluster which is a segment-first.

Along with that it also gets a wireless charger, handsfree boot opening, blue link connectivity system and a premium sound system. All this is not seen on the Maruti Ciaz or in fact any of the cars in the segment

Verdict

Therefore in most of the aspects, the Verna comes out on top of the Ciaz and that is the winner of the comparison. That is not to say that the Ciaz is missing out on stuff, but the facelift of the Verna has upgraded every aspect of the car and therefore it is more modern here.
