Honda Dio – Better than Activa 6G?

Honda Dio and Activa 6G are siblings with a lot of similarities.

Both the scooter does offer good value for money. However, this might raise the confusion between the two. Specifications

The Honda Dio as well as Activa 6G shares lots of technical specifications. Both of them are equipped with 109.

51 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine that produces nearly 7.6 bhp max power. However, Honda Dio has slightly better torque output at 9 Nm while the Honda Activa 6G produces slightly lesser torque output at 8.79 Nm.

Coming towards the hardware equipment, both the scooter shares a similar level of hardware bits. Both the scooter sits on the 12-inch front wheel and 10-inch rear wheel. Note that the wheels are steel wheels and not alloy wheels. The braking duty on both the scooter is managed by 130 mm drum at both wheels. These brakes are then assisted by a combined braking system. The suspension duty of these scooters is managed by telescopic suspension at front and 3-step adjustable mono-shock suspension at the rear.

Design and Features

Majority of changes are with the design and features so we will differentiate the designs and features. The Honda Dio is a sporty looking scooter.

It comes with a quite nice sporty theme. It gets the LED headlamps, signature LED DRL position, sporty split type pillion grab handle, golden coloured alloy wheels. The Honda Dio comes with pretty modern and upmarket features.

The scooter comes with a fully digital instrument cluster, retractable pillion footrest, external fuel lid, engine start-stop button and convenient storage spaces.

Honda Activa 6G, on the other hand, comes with pretty neat and professional design language.

It also gets full-LED headlamp unit, chrome element on the front panel. The scooter comes with features like external fuel lid, multi-functional switch, external fuel lid, engine start-stop switch and convenient storage spaces.

However, Honda Activa misses out on retractable pillion footrest, front pocket, digital instrument cluster. Nevertheless, the full metal body covers the missed out features.

Preference

Honda Activa 6G has a better ground clearance and an overall length which add the practicality point on Activa 6G.  Honda Activa 6G has narrow seat than Honda Dio so it is easily accessible for senior citizens and Indian ladies. So coming to the point, if you are loving the feature-packed scooter and sporty designs then we would say Honda Dio is to go. But if you are more inclined towards the reliability and if most of your family members do ride the scooter then we would say Activa 6G a better choice.

Price

Honda Dio price starts at Rs 64,042 (ex-showroom) while the Honda Activa 6G starts at Rs 65,722. So there’s not much of a difference in terms of pricing and both of them are good scooter. Other scooters include in the segment are TVS Jupiter, Hero Pleasure, TVS Zest.
