Bajaj CT 100 is the most affordable two-wheeler from the manufacturer. The bike is basically targeted for rural customers. Now most of us have wondered if the bike is underrated then why does the Bajaj still manufacturer’s it. The answer is because the bike is not underrated and it sells well in rural areas. Now to give you some idea about the sales, the bike is the third most selling bike in the Bajaj’s portfolio. Now, you know it isn’t an underrated motorcycle. So why does the Bajaj CT 100 sells well in rural India? Well, this article will show you some major reasons behind it.

Price

Believe it or not, in India and especially in rural India, the price of the bike is the most important factor. The Bajaj CT 100 BS6 is priced at Rs 41,178-48,858 (ex-showroom). When compared to other motorcycles in India, it is the most affordable geared motorcycle in the country.

Practicality

The Bajaj CT 100 is basically a bike that has to handle various duties of the rural areas, for example, the milkman has to attach milk cans to take it to dairy. Carrying heavy luggage is the most common duty for motorcycles in rural areas, for example, luggage like fodder for cattle, cereal sacks, etc. The Bajaj CT 100 has been provided with a long seat to easily accommodate luggage on it. The bike also gets a well-powered 102 cc engine that produces around 7.7 bhp max power and 8.34 Nm of peak torque. The same engine is shared with the Bajaj Platina.

Mileage

In India, providing good mileage is the biggest concern for the manufacturer. However, Bajaj is very experienced manufacturer and knows the right trick to have better mileage. Bajaj CT 100 specifically has claimed mileage more than 80 km/l. In real-world conditions, it returns around 70 km/l plus, which is quite astonishing. The tank capacity is also about 10.5 litres so it easily accommodates the fuel for several days.

Off-road

Now, why the sub-heading is written as ‘off-road’ because in rural India the roads are really like an off-road track. Bajaj CT-100 is equipped with telescopic suspensions at the front and integrated dual spring suspensions at the rear. The less stiffened spring absorbs smaller bumps while the stiffer spring absorbs bigger bumps and potholes. Due to these suspensions, the ride quality of the bike is superior when compared to other motorcycles. The one major flaw of the CT 100 is about the tyre. The bike still gets tubed tyre and not tubeless tyre.

Nevertheless, along with rural India, many urbanites have also started purchasing this motorcycle. Now, it should be interesting to see, if any other motorcycle manufacturer brings more affordable motorcycle than the CT 100. The Hero HF Deluxe is considered as the closest rival for the motorcycle.
