Hero Motors has sold 300,000 units of its product range through web, only on Snapdeal alone.

These numbers are achieved in a period of only 10 months and worth INR 1,500 crore. The brand did the tie-up last December with Snapdeal and the price of an average product is about INR 50,000.

“The entire range of Hero products is available on the Hero Brand Store on Snapdeal.

Our scooters, Maestro and Pleasure, are also generating high volume on the online platform,” a company spokesperson told to BS.

A buyer can see the entire Hero product portfolio just like any of the Hero dealerships. A person can pay an advance of INR 3,000 and get a booking done, and then the closest dealership contacts the buyer. The advantage is that the buyer gets free insurance, which isn’t possible at a dealership.

The Indian automakers are now realising that online cannot be neglected anymore and the brands are looking at connecting with the digital world to enhance sales.

Online is also churning out a lot of hot deals and sales percentage online are growing in double and triple digits.
