The Ford Endeavour has been an iconic SUV that has stood the test of time. It is one of the most successful premium SUVs sold in the market even today. The car has captured the need of the Indian masses with the dynamic road presence and the high ground clearance along with the off-road capabilities. We look at all the generations of the Ford Endeavour from the time it was launched and see what it has evolved to now.

The original Ford Endeavour 2003 -2006

Called the Ford Everest internationally, the Endeavour was introduced in our market in 2003. The big wheels along with the spare tyre at the back gave the car a different look. It became hit with the Indian market at that time itself. The large dimensions of the car along with the commanding stance suited well with the Indians.

The car was launched with a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produced 108 bhp at the time. The car also came with a four-wheel-drive system which meant that it could be taken off-roading as well.

Facelift 2007-2010

This car continued to build on the good points of the original. It had a similar design along with minor changes on the outside and retained the build quality of the car that Ford is known for. The Ford Endeavour also got a new suspension that was more capable of handling off-road terrains. The interior of the car got certain changes such as a better music system as well. More importantly, the car got a more powerful 141 bhp and 330 nm of torque.

The car got a new four-wheel-drive system as well that improved it’s off-road capability. But the performance upgrade was a major one and changed the entire dynamics of the car.

Ford Endeavour 2011-2015

This car again got an engine upgrade. The car got an all-new 3.0 litre diesel engine that was now capable of producing 151 bhp and 380 nm of torque. Moreover, the exterior of the car got cosmetic changes and modern elements such as the same colour bumpers and updated highlights as well as better quality of alloy wheels. The interior also got a better quality of plastics. The car mainly focused on creature comforts and got an all-new dashboard with a segment-first touchscreen infotainment system along with a rear-view camera and Bluetooth compatibility. It also got a chrome grille on the outside to make it looks more appealing. This was also the first Endeavour to get an automatic transmission as well.

New generation Endeavour 2016 – current

This is the new design Endeavour that we see now. The car got a completely revamped design and the whole car looks different than the previous cars. It could be said as the second generation car in India. It also got new engines like the 2.2 litres and the 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine. However, after the BS6 updates, the car only gets the new 2.0-litre diesel engine. This produces an impressive 167 bhp and 420 nm of torque. The car gets all the modern features and different driving modes to take on the different terrains. The ground clearance of the car is also impressive at 225 mm. It also gets a ten-speed gearbox which is not seen in any car. The car has been completely changed from the ground up and gets a new body, new headlights along with DRLs and a new infotainment system.
