Maruti Wagon R Variants – Best One?

Maruti Wagon R has been one of the favourite hatchbacks among the urbanites. The hatchback is well known for space and mileage it offers. There are multiple variants in the hatchback and might be confusing. So we will be filtering out the features across the variants so that you will be able to decide the best one for you among the Maruti Wagon R variants.

Maruti Wagon R has opted with the engine options – 1.0-litre petrol and 1.2-litre petrol. The 1.0-litre petrol comes in two variants – LXI, VXI while the 1.2-litre petrol comes with two variants – VXI and ZXI. So we’ll start from the 1.0-litre Maruti Wagon R

1.0-litre Engine –

The 1.0-litre Wagon R comes with three-cylinder 999 cc engine that produces around 67 bhp max power and 90 Nm of peak torque.

The engine is standard across all the 1.0-litre variants. It comes mated with 5-speed manual transmission or optional AGS (automatic) gearbox. The AGS gearbox option is limited to the VXI variant. There’s also CNG option which is limited to the LXI trim.

LXI 1.0

The LXI variant is very basic variant and comes with pretty basic features. It gets the front cabin lamps, driver side sun visor with ticket holder, the dual-tone interior theme is standard across all the Wagon R variants. The instrument cluster is common across all the variant which is an analogue unit; the LXI variant doesn’t get tachometer.

Convenience features include an accessory socket for front row, front row power window, AC and heater, bottle holders for all doors. The LXI variant doesn’t come with an infotainment system and speakers either. The Safety features include driver-side airbag and optional passenger airbag, ABS with EBD,  optional seat belt pre-tensioner and force limiter, seat belt reminder and buzzer, speed alert, rear parking sensors, childproof rear door lock.

Price – Rs 4.46-5.32 lakhs (ex-showroom)

VXI 1.0

Along with the LXI variant features, the VXI variant gets second-row 60:40 split seat, day/night IRVM, tilt steering, silver inside door handles, front passenger-side vanity mirror sun visor, silver finish gear shift knob for AGS variant. The VXI variant gets the same instrument cluster as  LXI, it also misses out on tachometer. The convenience features now come with remote keyless entry, power windows for all windows, rear parcel tray. The infotainment system is a basic 2-din type with Bluetooth and USB connectivity with two speakers.

The safety features now get boosted with the LXI safety features. It gets speed-sensitive auto door lock, security alarm. Unlike the LXI variant, the VXI variant comes with the wheel caps which was missing on the LXI trim. The trim also includes electrically adjustable ORVMs, body-coloured door handles, ORVMs.

Price – Rs 4.91-5.45 lakhs (ex-showroom)

1.2-litre engine

Now, Coming towards the 1.2-litre variants. So lets first take an overview of the power figures. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine produces around 82 bhp max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated with 5-speed manual or optional AGS (automatic) gearbox. There’s no CNG option.

VXI 1.2

VXI 1.2 gets similar features as of the VXI 1.

0. The only additional feature 1.2-litre VXI gets over 1.0-litre VXI is the steering mounted audio control.

ZXI 1.2

The ZXI trim is the most loaded among the Maruti Wagon R variants. Along with all the VXI features it comes with some additional bits. The ZXI variant comes with the tachometer as it was missing on the previous trims. Along with that, it also gets rear defogger, front passenger seat undertray and rear back pocket. The infotainment system is the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The ZXI trim also gets the front fog lamps, signal lamp integrated into ORVMs, electrically retractable ORVMs, rear wiper and washer.

Price – Rs 5.48-5.95 lakhs (ex-showroom)
