The COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted all industries include the automobile one. This has not stopped the companies from developing their products in other areas. It has recently been seen that the name Skoda Kliq has been registered by the company. There are speculations that this could be the name for the production version of the Skoda Vision IN. The Vision IN is an Indian specific sub-compact SUV. It was showcased at the Auto Expo, but it is yet to be shown in its production form.

It is expected to be launched next year itself.

Skoda Kliq Design

The car will get a modern design language. It was showcased with good ride height. It is loosely based on the Kamiq that is sold abroad but this will get a more aggressive design language. The car will also get a dominating road presence since this is so important in our market. It will also have skid plates and body cladding around the car. Check out our video on the Skoda Vision IN:

The interiors are also expected to be very premium and this is where the Skoda Kliq will set itself apart from its rivals. The car was showcased with features such as a 10-inch infotainment system and a virtual cockpit system. But all of these are not expected to be seen in the production car.

Engine and transmission

The Skoda Kliq will be expected with a 1.0-litre TSI engine. This engine is expected to produce around 114 bhp and 200 nm of torque to compete with its rivals. It could get a normal six-speed torque converter instead of a DSG to reduce the pricing of the car. The car is also expected to be introduced in a host of variants as well. The 1.5-litre TSI as seen on the Karoq could find its way in this car as well.

Pricing and competition

The Kliq could be the name of the Vision IN or it could even be the name for another as well. Nothing has been confirmed from the company as of now.

The Skoda Kliq is a product that is part of the Volkswagen group’s India 2.0 project. With this plan, the company is expected to heavily localise all the parts of the car. Therefore, it is expected to be priced competitively. The Vision IN will be priced around Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Vision IN will go against many cars such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
