Honda CBF 190 R is the naked streetfighter motorcycle currently available in the international markets like China and Latin America. It is been reported that Honda has patented this bike for the Indian market. So we could expect the addition of this new sub 200 cc bike in the upcoming Honda’s portfolio. This will be a good offering as it will offer something to replace the CBR 250 and break apart from the commuter line up of Honda. Honda has not yet confirmed the launch of this bike but if it launches then a number of bikes will face good competition.

Honda CBF 190 R Design

Honda CBF 190 R

As mentioned earlier, the design language is based on a naked streetfighter bike. The bike gets very sharp elements. The tank is bulkier than most of the bikes in the segment so it should make a difference among the rivals.  The headlamp unit somehow appears similar to the already existing product in the segment. Nevertheless, it is supposed to have an all-LED headlamp and taillamp unit. Along with that, it has clip-on handlebars, which is pretty common in the segment now. But we feel that a flat handlebar would have given the bike its hooligan look.  The seat unit in a single piece unit, which is a bit unusual considering the segment. But being a Honda bike it will choose comfort over looks any day. Overall, the design of the Honda CBF 190 R looks striking and is functional at the same time.

Honda CBF 190 R Engine

Moving on towards the engine, the China spec model gets the 184.4 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor.

The engine produces around 15.8 bhp max power and 15.3 Nm of peak torque. If you look at the power figure then these are a bit below the segment.  The engine then comes mated with the 5-speed gearbox unit. The powertrain looks quite poor when compared to the segment. However, Honda CBF 190 R with Indian spec might have tweaked powertrain to produce more output and performance. Still, this might not be as powerful as the KTM 200.

We expect a horsepower figure of 19 bhp. If the Honda CBF 190 R gets launched in India, we can expect the engine to have oil-cooled or liquid-cooled.

Features

The India spec model should have features like the digital instrument cluster, dual disc brakes assisted by the at least single-channel ABS, side stand engine inhibitor, engine kill switch and much more. The patented model has USD forks which is a bit suspicious for the Indian variant as it will raise the cost by a significant amount.

Overall, the features will be competitive and trending. The safety will include a dual-channel ABS as standard.

Pricing and Rivals

Honda currently has discontinued the Honda XBlade and CBR 250R, so Honda will be quite thoughtful while launching the next product. The bike supposed to target a wider range of audience. We can expect the pricing somewhere between 1.15-1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will be rivalling the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, KTM Duke 200, TVS Apache RTR 180, 200 4V. The bike is supposed to launch by the mid of 2021.
