It had its kind of modern design and the taillights looked cool and the headlights as well got a modern design. The overall stance of the bike was one which was aimed at sportiness which is usually the case with the youngsters. The company continues to be relevant to the design even now. The Pulsar 150 cc has a single-cylinder engine which is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The power plant produces 13.6 bhp and 13.25 nm of torque. This engine is known to being very capable and is good in terms of durability and hardly gets any issue even though if it used aggressively. The company also has been perfecting it over time and the vibrations have become a part of the characteristics. It gets both rear and front disk brakes but this is found only on the twin disc variant. There is also a rear drum brake variant which makes it easy for those on the budget constraint.  The top variant of Bajaj Pulsar 150 also has an anti-locking braking system.

This 150 kg bike is available in 7 colours. The Pulsar was one of the best handling bikes at the time. The overall chassis and the nimble nature of the bike meant that you could corner the bike with higher speeds while being safe and also cutting through traffic is one of the biggest strong points of the bike. This bike was not meant to do high speed and hence the tyres on this bike are not that thick.
