Engine and transmission

The only engine available in the Fortuner Epic Black will be the popular 2.8 litre diesel which is known to be a strong engine. This engine produces 174 bhp along with a healthy 450Nm of torque. The engine can be mated to a six speed manual and a six speed automatic in India.

Pricing and rivals

The BS6 Fortuner is currently priced at Rs 28.1-33.9 lakh(ex-showroom) and if the Fortuner Epic Black will reach India it is expected to be a tad bit above the current pricing of the Fortuner.

From the onset of the BS6 norms, Toyota has discontinued the 3.2 litre version in the Fortuner and also some of its models such as the Etios and the Corolla. The Ford Endeavour is the only car that is giving some kind of competition to the Fortuner.
