The Scooty Pep Plus BS6 has finally been launched and the cheapest TVS scooty available in the market gets the BS6 updates. The bike does not get much changes overall except for the BS6 upgrades. It also gets a major increase in its pricing. The Scooty Pep Plus has been an iconic scooty right from the time of its launch and is the only two wheeler in the market with a 90cc displacement. The scooty is aimed at young or first time buyers as affordability is one of its strongest features.

Design

The Scooty Pep Plus does not get any design changes as such. There are two new colour schemes that have been added which are the Coral Matte and Aqua Matte. Apart from this you also get the special colours that are the Babelicious and Matte Edition and they both will cost above 1200 more than the normal colours.

It gets the same 89cc motor that produces about 5 bhp and 5.8nm of torque. There could be some changes to these numbers and they could go down by a small margin or stay the same. Due to the scooty being just 95 kgs, the performance is indeed peppy. It now also gets an Eco boost function which gives you additional performance at the lower end and will also give you better fuel efficiency. It also gets the CVT gearbox as earlier. This engine is also known to be giving one of the best mileage in the market and the earlier motor had a claimed efficiency of 68 kmpl.

Features

The surprising part is that the Scooty Pep Plus even after its competitive pricing manages to get telescopic forks for the front suspension. This is a very helpful feature and helps the Pep Plus BS6 to deal with the bad roads. Other features in the Scooty Pep Plus BS6 are a 12V mobile charger and a side stand alarm.

The braking system includes drum brakes of 110mm diameter on both wheels.

Scooty Pep Plus BS6 pricing

The pricing of the Scooty Pep Plus BS6 is now Rs 51,754 for the regular colours and 52,954 for the two special edition colours (all prices ex-showroom). This means that the bike has become about 6,700 more expensive than the BS4 version. This is very big hike for the scooty considering its previous price.

But even after this price increase it will yet remain the cheapest TVS scooty you can buy.

Due to its pricing and lower displacement it does not have any direct rivals unless you consider the Hero Splendor.
