After the successful launch of Husqvarna 250 twins, the company is expected to launch its bigger siblings anytime soon. The Husqvarna 401 twins were spotted several times while testing and that should make us believe the launch to take place in the next few days. So what are the features and specifications of these twins, well continue reading the blog and you’ll get all the answers.

Design / Looks

Designwise the twins appear very much similar to the smaller 250 brothers. However, there are few changes in the 401 bikes to make them more premium than the 250s.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is a scrambler styled motorcycle while the Vitpilen 401 is a cafe-racer. Both these bikes share most of the design elements and features. Both these motorcycles get the round-shaped headlamp design. All the lighting elements on the bike are LEDs that make the bike look quite modern.

Engine / Powertrain

Husqvarna 401 engine

The heart of the bikes does get 373 cc single-cylinder engine that is borrowed from the KTM 390s. The engine is a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine that produces nearly 44 bhp and 37 Nm peak torque. Of course, the engines will be BS6 compliant. The engine will be mated with a six-speed gearbox that will be assisted with slipper clutch. The BS6 KTM Duke was offered with quick shifters, so it is expected in the Husqvarna twins as well.

Hardware

Hardware on both the bikes will be almost similar. Suspension duty for both bikes will be managed by 43 mm USD forks and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Braking performance will be supported with 300 mm disc at front and 230 mm disc at the rear. These disc brakes will be assisted by dual-channel ABS, however, the rear disc ABS might have a switchable option as it was seen on the KTM Duke 390. The bikes possess modern features such as a fully-digital instrument cluster.

The difference between the Svartpilen and Vitpilen is mostly about the riding posture. The Svartpilen 401 will have single-piece handlebar while the Vitpilen 401 will have a clip-on handlebar that makes Vitpilen’s riding posture more committed. The Husqvarna 401 twins in the international markets come with spoke wheels, however, in India, it might come with alloy wheels option as well, as it was seen in the some of the spy shots.

Pricing and Rivals

Husqvarna is really aggressive at pricing as it was earlier experienced with the launch of Husqvarna 250 twins. The 250 twins were priced below the KTM Duke 250. So considering this, it is expected to launch at the price below Duke 390. For reference Duke 390 is currently priced at Rs 2.53 lakhs (ex-showroom). The main competitors of Husqvarna 401 twins are Royal Enfield 650 twins and Benelli Leoncino 500.
