The Honda Jazz BS6 has been teased on the company’s official India website. This would mean that the car will be launched soon in the Indian market. During the pandemic, car manufacturers have started accepting car bookings online. Honda could also accept the pre bookings online. The big news is that the Honda Jazz will get an updated BS6 diesel as well. Many car manufacturers are shying away from updating their diesel engines to meet the BS6 norms as this brings up their costs by a big amount.

Overview

The Jazz is known to be a sort of premium hatchback and has worked fairly well in the past in the Indian market. The biggest factor is that you get the Honda quality along with loads of interior space and competitive pricing. But with the trend of the SUVs and the crossovers in the Indian market, the Jazz had lost its significance and was doing poorly in terms of sales. The Jazz has been discontinued a number of times previously and then re-introduced in the market. The design of the car is also very modern and the car has received timely updates to keep things fresh.

Jazz BS6 design

The Jazz BS6 has been teased with a typical teaser image that the brands usually release before a launch. From what we can see the front of the car is majorly visible in the image and it seems that not a lot has changed in the design department. The design of the headlights and the grille looks the same to the outgoing car. From the back, it could get certain changes to the bumpers as well as the lights and then it could get side refreshed alloys as well. The interiors of the car are also expected to get certain updates such as updated software for the touchscreen as well as a new layout for the dashboard.

Jazz BS6 engine and transmission

The Amaze got a CVT option in the diesel and this could be a possibility in the Jazz BS6 as well. While the petrol will most definitely get the option of the CVT in its 1.2-litre petrol version that produces 90 bhp and 110Nm of torque. The BS6 version will also produce the same amount of power. The diesel, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre unit that produces 100 bhp ad 200Nm of torque. Both these engines come with a standard five-speed manual gearbox.

Pricing and competition

The pricing of the Jazz BS6 will have to be very competitive by Honda or else the car might continue to perform poorly in the sales department. The rivals would be the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai i20, although it could be priced higher than these cars.
