Maruti Suzuki is looking to expand its hatchback offerings even further with a new car that has been spotted testing by our subscriber. We believe it will be called the Maruti Suzuki XL5 and will be launched as a more premium WagonR. Maruti Suzuki has launched the XL6 which is also known to some as the premium version of the Ertiga that is the MPV sold by Maruti. The XL6 gets a completely new design and has established itself as a different car and has also succeeded in getting a lot of sales. The Wagon R also has been a long-standing car in the hatchback segment that is used for commercial purposes as well by taxi drivers. It is a favourite as it provides a lot of space for the passengers along with having decent features and also a tall boy look.

Overview

Maruti Suzuki is the leader when it comes to the hatchback segment. It has launched a lot of cars in the sub-four-meter segment. It has even priced all of its cars aggressively and gained a lot of success with this. In fact all of its 16 cars that it currently sells in the country are all below 10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). Therefore it gives us the idea that Maruti will be looking to expand in this area in the future.

Maruti Suzuki XL5 design

The XL5 is completely camouflaged but we can still see that both the headlamps and the tail lamps will be completely changed. The bumpers, as well as the front grille, are also going to get some design changes. Although from a distance, it could be mistaken for a Wagon R. The alloy wheels of the Maruti Suzuki XL5 will be the ones seen on the Ignis. The Maruti Suzuki XL5 as well is said to be sold through the Nexa showrooms once it is launched. The interiors of the car will also feature higher quality plastics and materials than the Wagon R. It will also have updated features.
