Kawasaki ZX-25R launch might delay – COVID-19 effect

Coronavirus has ruined the plan for most of the manufacturers, Kawasaki is not an exception. Initially, Kawasaki had a plan to launch their most-anticipated ZX-25R at the Kawasaki Bike Week (KWB) 2020 which is held in Indonesia. It was planned to hold the event on 4 the of April. However, due to ongoing global pandemic, it is most likely to be postponed. Let’s see what we will be offered when the Kawasaki ZX-25R is launched.

 Kawasaki ZX-25R Engine

The most interesting thing we have known so far is the engine. Kawasaki has created much hype by showing the glimpse of the power in their official video. It is claimed that the engine has class-leading rev-range that extends beyond 17,000 rpm! That’s really beyond anybody’s expectation. The small quarter-litre 4-cylinder engine is expected to produce around 45 bhp max power. We really have to say that Kawasaki has done a staggering job in the department of the engine. Kawasaki ZX-25R is expected to replace the country’s favourite Kawaski, the Ninja 300 which had discontinued BS4 model a few months ago.

Features

Apart from the engine, the bike will get lots of modern and upmarket features. It will have a semi-digital instrument cluster that includes shift indicator, gear position indicator. Safety features will include ABS, traction control and bigger disc brakes. The bike will be equipped with upmarket and premium bits such as quick-shifter, USD forks, LED lighting and many more.

In terms of looks, the bike will resemble bigger ZX bikes. It will be a full-faired motorcycle with twin-LED headlamp setup. The bike is very aggressive in terms of looks. You can refer the images shown below to get a clear idea of the bike.

Price in India

The Kawasaki ZX-25R will be priced around IDR 64 million in Indonesian rupees. That turns to be approx 3.32 lakhs in Indian currency. Looking at the price it will be pretty attractive. The launch date of the bike in India is expected a bit after launch in Indonesia.

Kawasaki ZX-25R rivals

After the Kawasaki ZX-25R launch, the competition will be very interesting. It will be rivalling other faired motorcycles in a similar price band the country. Major competitors consist of  KTM RC 390, Suzuki Gixxer 250, TVS Apache RR310, and also the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R25. Honda is missing from rivals list isn’t it, not really, Honda is currently preparing for their upcoming flagship bike all-new CBR2500RR.
