The X3 M is the bonkers X3 that is produced by the M division of BMW. All M cars in the BMW range are focused on only one thing, performance. Often the M equivalent cars are priced more than twice the price of the normal car. For instance the BMW 520d costs around 66 lakhs (on road) while the M5 competition will cost you about 1.8 crore. That is a hell of a premium to pay for a car that you can barely reach its true potential in the city. But there will always be some enthusiasts eagerly waiting for such cars. The X3 M has been spotted testing on our roads, let’s have a closer look at it.

Overview

The M cars all are known to be having subtle changes from the outside so as to look discreet and like a normal car. But they have a host of mechanical changes. The engine produces a whole lot of power and everything is different from the suspension to the brakes, tyres and also the aerodynamics are changed.

Design

Visually the X3 M gets the 20 inch wheels which gives us the idea that the standard X3 M will be launched instead of the Competition variant. The M cars sit lower than their standard variants and also the bumpers of the X3 are aggressively shaped for maximum aerodynamic ability. It also gets bigger air intakes for more air to enter into the engine along with M badging all around the car.

X3 M interiors

The interior of the car also gets some changes. The steering wheel is different and has better grip on it. The seats are also changed so that you do not move a lot while cornering in the car. You also get to see the M badging all across the interiors as well, reminding you of the capability of the car.

Engine

The main aspect of the M cars will always be the engine. This car gets the inline six cylinder engine which produces a whopping 475 bhp  and 650 nm of torque.

This is mated to the eight speed DCT gearbox that is tuned by BMW for performance. It also gets an all wheel drive system. The 0-100 time is of 4.2 seconds for the standard X3 M. The top speed is limited to 250 kmph but can be increased to 280 kmph

X3 M pricing

The car should cost around or more than 1.3 crore (ex showroom) if it is launched in the country. Obviously these cars are not meant for high volume sales.
