The MG ZS EV has been doing well in terms of its sales figures. It could be said as one of the highest-selling EVs in the country right now. The ZS had created hype by undercutting Hyundai Konas price and being priced at 20.8 lakh ex-showroom. The company announced that it looks to localise more of its parts in the country in the future. As of now the car is a complete import and will remain to be so but the costs could come down if MG decides to localise more of its parts here.

Overview

The MG Hector has more than 70% of its parts to be localised and the ZS EV is mostly imported as of now. MG plans to change this by increasing this number to 30-40%. While the government initially showing good signs for EV cars has again hyped tax rates increase the prices of EV cars by about 5-15%. This will affect the ZS but overall there could be a price drop if the company decides to increase localisation of the car here.

The ZS EV is currently sold at 20.8 lakh to 23.58 lakhs (ex-showroom) and prices could go down by about 1-1.5 lakh rupees. It is currently sold in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The availability will expand to more cities gradually, once there is enough supply and the charging infrastructure is in place.
