Maruti Suzuki Eeco CNG gets BS6 upgrade

The Maruti Eeco CNG is being updated to meet the BS6 emission norms. The Eeco is a multipurpose van that has become very popular amongst Indian consumers. It is also sold in its commercial option where the car is modified for extra luggage use. The Eeco previously got the BS6 updates for the petrol variant and now it will get the BS6 upgrade for the CNG variant as well. The Eeco CNG is Maruti’s fourth CNG model, after the S-Presso, Wagon R and Ertiga.

Overview

This is in line with Maruti’s goal of selling one million CNG vehicles in the coming years. Maruti is expected to stress more on its CNG line up for now, as it does not have plans to continue to sell its diesel vehicles after the BS6 emission norms kick in from April. As before, air-conditioning is a standard fit, as are the driver airbag, ABS, front seat belt reminders, reverse parking sensors and a speed alert system.

Eeco CNG BS6 engine and gearbox

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine that produces 73bhp at 6000rpm and 101Nm of torque at 3,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. The claimed mileage is 21.94km/kg. As for the petrol version, the claimed mileage is 15.3kmpl. The petrol tank capacity is 40 litres.
