On the sidelines of Hyundai Creta launch, Renault launched Duster BS-VI at a starting price of 8.49 lakhs INR. With this launch, it is now official that 1.5 liter dCi diesel engine is no more on offer in this SUV. The upgrade comes well within the set timeline of upcoming emission norms. Duster BS-VI is the third product in Renault India’s product portfolio which meet these norms.

Renault Duster BS-VI

The petrol-only Duster BS-VI is powered by 1.5-liter TCe engine, which we have seen earlier too. The engine produces a power of 105 bhp and torque of 142 Nm. This engine comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission as of now.

In BS-IV version, it used to also come mated to X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission, but no more. The X-Tronic Duster was loved by many and it remains surprising why the company skipped this now. Company may launch this combination at a later stage.  Another surprising bit is that Renault has also skipped introducing, earlier announced, 1.

3-liter TCe 130 engine. The front fascia gets reworked grille and new LED DRLs. Interiors are also reported to receive minor updates, but which are unknown yet. We will update you soon with that information.

Variants and Pricing

The new Renault Duster is now available in three variants namely RXE, RXS and RXZ, priced at INR 8.49, 9.29 and 9.99 lakhs respectively. In terms of features, Duster has never been a leader and it remains so now too.

Some of the key features of Duster BS-VI are touch screen ICE with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support, navigation, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat, projector headlamps etc. The new Duster is available in seven different shades.

When the competition has moved to a panoramic sunroof, bigger touchscreen, ventilated seats, LED headlight, heads up display, dual-tone colour options etc. the Duster seems to take a step backwards by not moving with time. Let’s see if the 1.3 litre TCe with a higher power output of around 130 bhp and automatic transmission changes the desirability of the product
