It has been suggested that the Tata’s upcoming sedan is secretly named as Peregrin and also codenamed as X452. As this is not official so this is still in suspect. The Tata sedan will be based on the Tata’s latest premium hatchback Altroz. It is expected to come at a very competitive price in the segment and it will surely be hoped to have a higher value for money product. So let’s see what can we expect from the upcoming Tata Peregrin.

Exterior Design

Tata showcased the electric sedan EVision concept at the Geneva 2018. So we are expecting that the exterior design will be inspired by this sedan.

So we could hope that 70-80 percent car will be similar to the concept, as Tata has proven this in their latest vehicles. The concept model had a very sleek design and quite the right proportions. It had a very slim headlamp design which somehow resembles Tata’s 2.0 impact design language. The tyre size we expect will be around 15- 16 inch and not which shown at the concept, but it is expected with the diamond cut alloy wheels. Overall, the design is expected to be very fresh and appealing that will surely stand out in the crowd.

Engine

The Tata Peregrin is expected with the similar engine options as the Tata Nexon so that it heats the competition. The Nexon currently gets two engine options- 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.2-litre petrol is able to produce around 118.3 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. While the 1.5-litre diesel produces around 108 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. Considering the petrol engine, it produces very similar power to the Honda City. So we are expecting a very interesting competition between both.

It is to be noted that the upcoming sedan will be based on the Tata’s ALFA-ARC architecture. So it is presumed to offer a similar level of safety as the Altroz and Nexon.

Features

The sedan will be offered with a competitive and upmarket feature. It will be sharing various elements from the Altroz such as steering wheel, floating type touch screen infotainment system, etc. The doors of the sedan are expected to open full 90 degrees, as it is seen on the Altroz and the upcoming HBX. The premium features will include a sunroof, multiple-airbags option, automatic climate control, auto headlamp and wiper. etc. The upholstery will be very competitive and will be certainly better than the rivals.

Price and Launch date

The pricing of the Tata Peregrin will be a competitive level so it is expected to sit just under the Maruti Ciaz which starts at Rs 8.3 lakhs (ex-showroom). The launch date is not confirmed yet but we expect it to arrive somewhere between 2021 mid and end. After the arrival, it will be competing against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Maruti Ciaz.
