The current generation Maruti Celerio has been quite old now. It has gone through a minor update back in 2017. The major facelift for the model was planned a year back and the official sketches were also circulated among the internet that seems quite likeable. The hatchback recently got BS6 upgrade and is ready to pass the upcoming emission norms. The facelift model, however, will take some time towards production and is expected to arrive in 2021. So let’s see what can we expect from the upcoming Maruti Celerio Facelift.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the hatchback will get some tweaks to match the current trend. It is expected to get full-LED headlamps and LED DRls which has been shown in the sketches. The grille of the upcoming Celerio facelift will possess similar styling as the Maruti XL6. Overall, the front will be much better and cleaner than the predecessor.  From the rear, we expect to get LED taillamps as well due to the rivals. However, the dual-tone exterior colour is still in suspect, but we hope it to be present at least as an option. We hope the alloys wheels to be similar to the sketches as they look very good on the car.

Interior and Features

The interior of the facelift is expected somewhat similar to the current generation Swift. It will get a touch screen infotainment system. We are expecting it with the same infotainment as Swifts. Upholstery will have gone complete makeover and will be more upmarket and better. We hope that the new Celerio comes with the rear AC vents as the rivals are also offering it. The hatchback will be loaded with many practical bits such as bottle holder, USB charging ports, power windows, steering-mounted buttons, etc. The safety net will include features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor as standard across variants.

Engine

The upcoming Celerio Facelift will get the same 1.0-litre petrol engine as the current. However, we are expecting it to get a bigger 1.2-litre engine on the higher variants. The 1.0-litre engine will be able produces around 67 bhp of max power and 90 Nm of peak torque. The 1.2-litre engine will be producing around 83 bhp of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The hatchback will come with a 5-speed manual and optional 5-speed AMT. Just to remind you guys, the Celerio was the first car to offer the AMT gearbox. The CNG version will come sometime later after the launch of the petrol variant.

Price

The pricing of the vehicle will see some hike over the predecessor. For reference, the current model costs around Rs 4.41 – 5.38 lakhs(ex-showroom). It will be competing against the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.
